Dear friends and followers welcome back to today's new blog in this we are going to discuss about courtesy of mayday and pan pan in radio telephone and more about RTR so let's get started.
In early 1920 radio telephone communication becomes more common among aviation before that we are using ..SOS.. codes but this are not very useful in emergency situation. So the aviation has to come with some universally accepted words. Help! Help me! Is it not the right way of communication then senior air traffic controller fredErick mockford in 1987 then after that there's is a flight b707 flying from London to France then the French pilot use the word 'M"aidez" in case of engine failure.
Then the word Maidez(French word). = Means help me in (English)
After that Maidez prnounsation be like Mayday. Then senior air traffic controllers present there intentions to the international radio telegraph convention based at Washington.in the year of 1927.
Then they declared mayday calls used only if there's Life threatening condition or you can there's chances of casualties.
When to use mayday calls here are some situations-
1. When there is an engine failure cases.
2.when you are trapped in the wet microburst ( if you don't know microburst is very dangerous situation in that visibility reduces, heavy downdrafts, thunderstorm activities and heavy rain etc.
3. When the chances of sudden decompression.
Remember mayday calls we use three times like "Mayday Mayday Mayday".
Now we are moving to the Mayday little brother pan- pan
Pan- pan is also coming from the French language pan- pan means breakdown.
Pan- pan situation are not urgents or it can not going to harm anyones life.
Here are some examples of pan-pan situations-
1. When we're trapped in the severe turbulence
2. If there's an medical emergency situations
3. birds strike situations
Remember in case of pan-pan situations you can say pan-pan as a 6 times like
"Pan-pan pan-pan pan-pan"
Hey if you ever been fly through this situations just let me know in the comments.
Ok can you ever heard words like squak code then here is my first attempt to explain.
Here is one example-
Mumbai twr I fly 666 cleared for take off you are no-2 for departure behind Air India 178 squak is 1778.
What is that squak code?? So let's get started.
Ok you heard word like transponder made from transmitter and receiver transponder primary purpose is to pick up radio wave at 1030 MHz and interrogate to the same at 1090mhz .
Squak code contains of 4 digit code when you enter this code on your mode-s transponder the air traffic controller get the information about your altitude, speed, call sign and most important your flight plan display on the radar screen of air traffic controller.
In smaller aircrafts like cessana citation the most important we have to is that our altitude so in this aircrafts mode-A transponders are fitted.
When the TCAS( traffic collision avoidence system) are fitted to aircraft then there is a mode-C transponder are fitted.
When the aircraft are fitted to the mode-S transponder then there is a additional features are also included like CPDLC( controlled pilot data link communication and much more. There are many rules and regulations are in case of fitted transponder.
Like annexure-2, annexure-9 and pans- ATM doc-4444
As per the ICAO all the commercial aircrafts are advised to be fitted with mode-S transponder.
Here are some emergency situations when you dial the unique squak code universally accepted-
1. In case of your aircrafts is hijacked then you place the squak is 7500 . So that air traffic controller know that something went wrong with your aircraft and your position displaced on radar screen
2. When the communication is lost between you and ATC then you dial the squak code as 7600.
3.when you need emergency attention from ATC then you dial the squak as 7700.
Ok guys in tommorows blog we are going to discuss some important point like why did to pilot says lufhansa a380 super and Air India b747 heavy this is the weight turbulence category we are going to discuss all the aircrafts category in tommorows blog
If you have any daubt in today's blog just let me know in the comments.and stay tuned for more.
Good .. keep going
