1. Wing leading edge.
2. Vertical and horizontal stabilizer.
3. Pitot tubes
4. Engine intakes
5. Navigation antennas
And any ice accumulation can lead to the reduces controllability, increases in weight
And also reduces the overall performance of the planes.
And icing can occurs possibly at below 10 degrees centigrade, and with visible moisture.
So how would you get to know that Ice is accumulated at leading edge or any other devices. that will be covered in a minute.
So the most of the aircraft are having engine bleed air to melt the ice. bleed air is taken from the engine compressor like this below-
Then the air runs to the pre-cooler stage and it's reduces the temperature upto 200 degrees like this below-
Then this cooled Air disturbed to the air conditioning, and also to the leading edge like this-
And also the visible ice indicated also on the visual ice indicator situated at the middle beam of the cockpit.
But you must select the anti-ice system on which located at the ECAM section in the cockpit.
Then the bleed air are guided to the telescopic pipes located under the leading edge like this-
And the mechanism behind it is the bleed air is distributed to the small picollow tube and exit out from the small little tiny holes.
Ok now let's have a look to the engine anti-ice system it is very similar to the leading edge system. The engine intake shiny surface itself acts as a engine anti-ice system.
The bleed air from compressor are taken and then transfer to the engine intake area by the help of this valve.
This are nothing but deicing botters when the botters are extend with it's full energy with the help of bleed air then ice generated will suddenly break down like this below-
This is the major reason that all airlines started buying the dreamliner aircraft.
Ok many of the time when you are travelling then the one machine is always thrown the some kind of liquid on to the wing like this-
But this technicians are deicing your aircraft. From the accumulation of over night frost suddenly the areas like upper wing surface and and over the fuselage-
Where the anti-ice system did not not working at the over the fuselage, and wing upper section like this kind of area.
Remember all the aircrafts has go with the cold wheather certification before selling to the airlines.
Ok now let's talk about that fluids which is spread over the wings to prevent from icing this fluids also known as freezing point depressent and they categories as per different types
Type-1 = primarily used for deicing only.
This are used to remove ice, frost from aircraft surfaces and they are hot And usually they are in Orange colour
Type two is generally used in two way process first step is used as heated deicing fluids to remove contamination just as a type-1 and second step is same fluid but non heated and it acts as a anti-iceing preventation.
And type-3= primarily used for turbo- prop aircrafts
Compromise from type-1 and 2 because they have low speeds lift than jet powered aircrafts.
Type-4= anti-iceing onlyI think this will be seen by all off you they look like a jelly green type colour the type-4 fluids are always applied after type-1 ,2, 3 because there hold over time is more than all the above types it prevents the aircrafts and acts as anti-iceing system throughout the flight.
Good info 👍
