Rafael vs eurofighter typhoon.

 The Rafael and eurofighter typhoon both are the advanced fighter jets. Both Aircrafts are nearly identical in size, power and performance. That brings the question in our mind which one is the best? So let's find out this-

1.Specifications-

The eurofighter typhoon was first introduced in 2003. Around 584 eurofighter typhoons have been build so far with per unit cost of $117M. The aircraft comes with single seat and two seats varients.

The fighter jet empty weight is 24251Ib and it can take off with maximum weight of 51809Ib, the aircraft is powered by two Eurojet after burning turbofan engines, which produce around 40000 Ib of thrust combined. With the help of these engines the aircraft can got top speed of 1550 mph, 

With ferry range of 2350mi, the aircraft can combat within a radius of 863mi.

The aircraft can climb at the rate of 1043ft/sec, and can reach maximum altitude of 65000ft. The fighter jets comes with 13 hardpoints and in addition to this 27mm revolver Cannon. The typhoon is operated by European countries like Germany, Spain, uk,  Iran and various country across the globe.

Specifications of Dassult Rafael-

The Rafael was first introduced in 2001, around 178 Rafael are operated  by french air Force and variety countries like India which has 35 Rafael on orders. At the present per unit cost of latest varients is around $83M. Operated by 1 or 2 crew, the aircraft comes at weight of 23469Ib, and the jet can be take off at the weight of 54013Ib. Rafael is powered by two turbofan engines producing 34000Ib combined thrust, with the help of these engines the air can fly at a top so of 1381mph, with ferry range of 2300mi, the aircraft conduct combat operations within 1151mi. The Rafael can climb at a speed of 1000ft/sec. And can reach maximum altitude of 50000ft.

The fighter jet is outfitted with 14 hardpoints and in addition with 30mm autocannon.

 

 2.Manaeurability of eurofighter typhoon and Dassult Rafael comparison-

The typhoon has 30 degrees instantaneous turn rate. And sustained turn rate of 23 degrees.

Where's Rafael has instantaneous turn rate of 30 degrees and sustained turn rate of 24 degrees. However Rafael has better supersonic manaeurability as compared with eurofighter typhoon. In terms of post stall manaeurability Rafael can achieve 100 to 110 degrees of angle of attack, where's typhoon is limited upto 70 degrees.

3.Radar and avionics of eurofighter typhoon-

The typhoon is equipped latest radar and avionics, sensors fusing technology. The latest varient of typhoon is outfit with captor-E active electronically scanned array radar, the radar has full suite for air to air and air to surface modes.

Radar and Avion of Dassult Rafael-

The Rafael is equipped with thales electronically scanned array radars with multi-role operations. The radar can projects the real Time 3D maps for terrains followed all high resolution ground maps for targeting and navigating.

The radar can detects it's opponents for 124mi, it's capable of tracking 40 Aircrafts and engage 8 of them from air to air engagement.

4.Typhoon firepower-

The typhoon has a capacity to carry 9 tonnes of payload, on its 13 weapons points.

And arrgement control system manages weapons selection, firing and monitoring weapons status.

Rafael firepower-

The Rafael can carry payload of 9.5 tonnes on it's 14 hardpoints, the range of weapons includea air to air, air to ground, ait to sea and guided and unguided bombs For strategic missions.

The jet can also deliverers the Strom shadow nuclear attack missiles.

5. Conclusion and performance-

The typhoon is the fastest Aircrafts and significantly higher thrust/weight ratio, and it also has significantly higher service ceiling about 65000ft. And it can sustain more g Force for longer periods.

But the Rafael has higher manaeurability at low speeds and at the lower altitude as compared with typhoon, in terms of horizontal manaeurability Rafael has better instantaneous turn rate allowing it to reverse it's turn quickly. 

Both fighter Aircrafts are come with similar ferry range. Both fighter Aircrafts are featured with advanced elecrtronics and Radar system.

But the Rafael can carry slightly more payload than the eurofighter typhoon. And the Rafael has better combat radius in case of depp strikes as compared with eurofighter typhoon.

In BVR engagement both Aircrafts are capable of detecting first to each other.

6. Conclusion of dogfight-

In order to get energy advantage one most climb high as possible and fast, the typhoon can climb slightly higher as compared with Rafael,  however better manaeurability and 30mm autocannon gun which is capable of firing 500 rounds in minute, makes the rafale a better dogfighter.

The eurofighter typhoon is combact proven during operations in Syria, Iraq, and Libya war.

Also the Dassult rafale also proven combact multi-role fighter Aircraft in the war of Afghanistan terrorism's.
