British Airways b747-400 catches fire.


 




Yesterday at castellon airport Spain, a stored British airways b747-400 caught fire.

Incident detail-

The aircraft made a ferried flight for retirement and dismantling to the castellon Airport in mid August. The aircraft registered as G- CVID is a 26 years old plane stored at remote stand.


According to latest Aviation updates , by the provision deputy of fireworks, Abel ibanez, the fire started while airport operators were working on the b747. 


It is believed that the fire occurred due an oxygen pipe being cut and subsequently igniting, although the cause being still actively under investigation. As a precaution, the planes that were nearby the burned Aircraft was relocated.

The fire only occurred at the front of the aircraft, nobody was injured.

The aircraft was delivered to British airways in dec of 1994. Since January 2014 it has been adorned with one world special livery's. It's last commercial flight was between LHR to Lagos on April 18th. 

In total it has made 13,398 flights and contains 118,445 flying hours additionally 59 million miles of distance.

Aircaft is still grounding at the airport.
