Latam Airbus A321 returns with pair of cracked windshields just half hour after departure.


 



Earlier this, week Latam A321 returned to Sao Paulo airport less than an hour after departure. The reason for diversion is pair of cracked windshields.


Incident details-

LA-3304 is a scheduled Brazilian domestic flight from Sao Paulo airport to Belem/Val-de-cans International airport. The flight with a flag carrier Latham Brazil was scheduled to take just three and half hour.

At Nov 17th, this flight departed from Sao Paulo airport at 12:44 local time with a delay of 39 min due to some technical error. 

According to flight radar data, during the aircraft climb, the flight had to deviate around adverse wheather. Having reached an altitude of 20,000ft. It became evident that both of the airlines windshields had cracked. 



As such, the crew elected to return to Sao Paulo. 

Despite being overweight, having burned less fuel than had reached to Belem. The flight made a safe landing on Runway 27L at GRU. It touched down at 13:32 local time, it had spent 48 min in the air. Just under 2 hours later, at 15:20 local time, passenger were able Depart once again aboard a replacement Aircraft. This reached Belem at 18:35 local time, representing a delay of  3 hours.


Another incident involving cracked windshields( Azul ATR-72).


Earlier this month, A Brazil domestic flight operated Azul linhas areas Brasiliras experienced cracked windshield problems. This impacted Aircrafts cabin pressure, forcing the ATR crew to make a rapid descent to Avoide further issues.


Incident details-

AD-4675 is a daily 90 min domestic flight, operated by Brazilian regional carrier Azul it serves the cities of Belem (BEL) and Sao luis( SLZ), in Brazil North-East  local low cost carrier.

According to the flight Radar Data, reports that on Nov 14th flight was departed on scheduled domestic flight 07:45 Local Time.



By 08:26 local time flight had climbed to cruising Altitude of 19,000ft. And was around half way to Sao luios at this point the aircraft experienced cracked windshield problems and this affected the cabin pressure and as such the crew elected to rapid descent to a safer altitude.


They also declared the "PAN-PAN" . This message represent the situation that is urgent but poses no immediate danger's to anyone's life.

6 min later at 08:32 local time, the flight had descended to 10,000 ft( FL-100), it countinued to cruise at this level/ Altitude till 08:51 local time, while the pilots ran through necessary checklists. Following this situation flight AD-4675 was descended into San Luis airport as planned, landing safely on Runway-06 at 09:07 local time.

A republic Airways Embraer E-170 operating behalf of Delta airlines lost both bleed valves. After an emergency descent the aircraft diverted safely to Philadelphia, all the passengers on board were safe.
